Football manager 2009 (FM 09) - Coca-Cola League 1 Tactics

Looking tactics for FM2009 Coca Cola League 1? this tactics for football team in England Coca Cola League 1. Just thought i'd stick up a tactic that's been working with me for Swindon in League 1. It's your basic 4-4-2, playing direct passing and with the wingers running to the byline for crosses. The defense is pretty much pivotal on having one fast CB chasing back after holding the offside line, and the other being the more dominant challenging in the first place.

Chris Cleaver is an awesome signing if anyone's in the same league, plays the CM role perfect ! Let me know what you think

FM09 Patch 9.1.1 - Football Manager 2009 v9.1.1 Mac Patch Download

FM09 - FM2009 - Football Manager 2009 - v9.1.1 Mac Patch Update has release. First of all I would like to clarify that the minimum OS specs for FM/WSM 2009 are as they are on the back of the box – namely 10.5.5 (Leopard) and up. It is by mistake that the manual still lists 10.4.11 (Tiger) as a supported OS. Hence we were unaware that the 9.1.0 patch disabled the game for 10.4.11 (Tiger) users.

The good news is, despite 10.4.11 (Tiger) being officially unsupported, we have fixed the startup issue and created a 9.1.1 patch which is now available. 10.4.11 (Tiger) users applying this patch will again be able to play the game.

WSM2009 v9.1.1 Mac Patch

Torrent - http://torrent.sigames.com:7000/torr...521882CD77CA0A

This update will only affect 10.4 (Tiger) users – 10.5 (Leopard) users will see no difference so need not apply this update, however doing so will not harm your installation. I would like to wholeheartedly apologise on behalf of all at SI and SEGA for this unfortunate chain of events and the angst it has caused.

Additionally, I would like to confirm that the graphical options remain unchanged in this patch, however we are hard at work to improve these in subsequent patches. This patch will not enable PowerPC Macs of either 10.4 or 10.5 to run the game, an Intel CPU is required.

For PC user the patch still v9.1.0. You can download Here

SQUAD ANALYSIS
This will be done with no particular formation in mind. I’m going to cover all positions on the pitch and leave it to you to decide how you would like to play. However, I will suggest my best line-up and formation for Arsenal after the analysis.

Goalkeepers: As in 08, Almunia is solid without being world class. Age is not on Almunia’s side however so it might be a good idea to sell him and bring someone younger in. Its not imperative though. Fabianski doesnt look as good as last year and the assistant manager recommends getting rid of him. But I suggest waiting it out for a year to see how he goes. The youngsters at the club are all poor so you would do well to bring in a youngster with good potential.

Left Backs: Clichy has been improved and looks ever better as should be the case. He’s young as well so you wont have an immediate problem here. As backups, Silvestre and Gallas can both play here and are good. Song can be utilized here too if needed. You should be fine here to start with. Armand Traore doesn’t look that good defensively and doubt if he’ll reach a high standard as on 08. Should become a class winger though. Kieran Gibbs might be one to watch. Look for a young LB for the future anyway.

Right Backs: Sagna looks amazing too like on the last version. Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure both provide backup for this spot and are both good. You’re fine in this area too. Yet again, no real quality here in the youth ranks so might be a good idea to invest.

Centre Backs: Both Kolo Toure and William Gallas look amazing. Johan Djourou, Mikael Silvestre and Alex Song provide backup here. Djourou looks good yet again and should definitely be held on to. Silvestre looks decent enough as well but is getting on. Song might be worth holding on to as I think he could develop into a decent CB/DM. Senderos comes back from loan after a season (if Milan dont take the option of signing him). He actually looks terrific on this version. If you do get him back, I think you're well set for CB's because imo, he's good enough for Arsenal. But it is still worth investing in a younger CB considering Silvestre's and Gallas's age.

Defensive Midfielders: The position where every Arsenal fan in real life moans about. A position where we’re desperately short. However, in the game, the situation is not as bad. Song is pretty decent here. And I’m fairly certain Eboue could be retrained and will do a good job as well. Djourou is probably the best option if you want some defensive stability. Denilson could do a decent job but he’s been completely stripped of strength and will be easy to bully around. Finally, Diaby could be used here if needed although I wouldn’t trust him with his poor concentration. This is a spot where I would look to invest first for now and for the future.

Central & Attacking Midfielders: One of the strengths of the team. Fabregas is obviously one of the best around on the game. And he’s so young that you’re sorted for a good 10 years. With Denilson and Diaby around, you have 2 players capable of providing excellent cover. Nasri, Vela and Rosicky can play in the hole if for you if your tactic requires it. No need to invest in youth here as you have the likes of Wilshere, Lansbury, Ramsey, Merida coming through the ranks.

Wingers: To start with, Walcott and Nasri would suffice. Both look excellent and are very young. Rosicky will be back from injury soon and he maintains his FM08 standards. Van Persie, Vela, Eduardo and Eboue can all cover the wings as well. And you’ll have Traore back from loan next year who should become a monster on the left wing. It might be worth investing in a right winger though as there’s only Eboue to back up Walcott.

Strikers: Upfront is Arsenal’s main strength with a lot of quality options. Adebayor and Bendtner provide the aerial presence required even if both have been toned down. Adebayor has been brutalized unfortunately. Besides his physical stats, he looks distinctly average. How he performs will depend on the game engine I guess. Van Persie maintains the lofty standards of the last game and will probably be the main striker. Eduardo looks good as before although we’ll have to wait for the full version to really try him out. Walcott has been improved quite a bit and it might be worth playing him upfront to see how the game handles his pace. And then there’s the Mexican prodigy Carlos Vela who’s waiting for his chance as well. I'm sure he'll turn out class.

RECOMMENDED FORMATION & LINEUP
This is based on the original players that start at the club. That is, no additional signings have been taken into account.

I've always found this the best way to play with Arsenal although now with Walcott, a more direct approach might be well wroth considering. Especially in season 2 when Traore is back as well. But to start with, I'd stick to the above.

That’s it for now. I’ll put some recommended signings later once I’ve played the game a little. Might change a few things once I’ve got to play for a while as well. But hope this will kick-start the game for everyone.

Good luck guys, Discuss here about recommended player to buy ...:D

Football Manager 2009 Team Guides: Manchester United - Red Devil

Manchester United Football Club is an English football club, based at the Old Trafford stadium in Trafford, Greater Manchester, and is one of the most popular football clubs in the world, with over 330 million supporters worldwide – almost 5% of the world's population. The club was a founding member of the Premier League in 1992, and has played in the top division of English football since 1938, with the exception of the 1974–75 season. Average attendances at the club have been higher than any other team in English football for all but six seasons since 1964–65.

The club is the second most successful in the history of English football and by far the most successful of recent times, having won 20 major honours since the start of Alex Ferguson's reign as manager in November 1986. They are the Premier League's reigning champions, and have won England's top division 17 times, one short of Liverpool's record of 18 league titles. In 1968, they became the first English club to win the European Cup, beating Benfica 4–1. They won a second European Cup as part of an unprecedented Treble in 1999, before winning their third in 2008, 40 years almost to the day after their first. The club also holds the record for the most FA Cup titles with 11. - Credit to Wikipedia.

Squad Analysis

This is an overall analysis of the squad from my point of view.

Goalkeepers: You have thre main keepers in the Squad; They are of course Edwin van der Sar, Ben Foster and Tomas Kusczcak. This department is strong enough in the first season as Van der Sar although ageing can do a job in the first season and Foster and Kuzczcak can provide fantastic back up. So there is no need to improve here in the 1st season. Your long term first choice GK should be Ben Foster but thsi could be a position to strengthen after VdS retires as Kusczcak is not good enough to be 1st choice..

Left Backs: Patrice Evra is fantastic as always and should be your first choice LB. O'Shea will provide adequate back up. No need for improvement except if you want a top class LB to rotate with Evra in latter seasons.

Right Backs: On the right side Neville and Brown both can do a job but you should be looking to get a long term replacement for Gary Neville. It will be also intresting to see how the Brazilian twins Fabio and Rafael develop.

Centre Backs: Both Ferdinand and Vidic look amazing and could be the best DC's in the game imo. They should be your first teamers with Jonny Evans, O'Shea and Brown providing back up. You may want to sign a promising young CB though.

Defensive Midfielders: This position again looks strong with Hargreaves and Carrick both looking solid and they are English aswell. You should rotate the two of them and maybe use Fletcher as back up.

Central & Attacking Midfielders: Paul Scholes looks amazing and still could have a couple of seasons in him. Anderson looks very good and should have a high potential. A long term replacement is needed for Scholes but i would advise to buy in the 2nd season.

Wingers: You have four main wingers in Ronaldo, Giggs, Nani and Park. Ronaldo is arguably the best player in the game and he should obviously be your first choice on the RW with Park as back up. Howver both of them are injured so it could be useful to find a short term replacement at the start of the game. On the LW Nani and Giggs should be good enough for the 1st season but you need a long term replacement for Giggs.

Strikers: Man Utd have arguably the best Strike force in the game with Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov. Rooney looks as though he has been slighty downgraded but he is still fb. Tevez also looks like he has been toned down but agin he still looks fantastic. Berbatov looks amazing and gives you another option and with Manucho as further back up and promising ST's such as Welbeck and Brandy in the Under 18s there is no need for investment here.

Recommended Formation and Lineup

This is based on the original players that start at the club. That is, no additional signings have been taken into account.

Van der Sar
Neville Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Ronaldo scholes Carrick Giggs
Berbatov/Tevez Rooney

Player/Staff Recommendations

Staff Credit goes to davidbowie

Like alot of managers these days, once you join a club, you need to sort out the backroom staff. Whilst in real life United have one of the best coaching staff in the world, in-game there are areas sadly lacking.

You have alot, but most of them simply are not that good:

Clearing out the Backroom:

Scouting

With scouting, you simply require 18+ for either Ability or Potential scouting, and preferably 19 or 20. Anything less is not good enough with 17+ scraping through. This requires you to release:

Emmanuel Amunike
Martin Ferguson
Joe Corcoran
Antonio Lopez
John Owen
Tom Veron
Gilles Rouillon

This will leave you with about 6 scouts left, which have at least 17 for potential scouting. This is not ideal, but it is better than nothing. It also keeps release costs down.

Coaching

United's coaching staff are a good base to work from, with the majority of the staff being a 5 or 6 star rated in a particular area. You should also only want each staff member working on one area.

United have a very good Goalkeeping staff, with the other areas being generally being 5+ stars or higher. The 5+ requirement means the following staff should be released:

First Team Coaches:
Warren Joyce - Nothing above 4 stars

Youth Team Coaches:
Tommy Martin - Highest is 5 stars in Ball Control, which United have coaches with 6 and 7 stars already.

Youth staff to contract as 1st and Youth team coaches:
Eamon Malvey - 6 stars for shooting.
Mark Dempsey - 6 stars for ball control.
Tony Whelan - 6 stars for attacking.

Other notes on coaches:
Paul McGuinness - Has a stupidly large contract, but only 5 star in defence.
Brian McClair - Another stupidly large contract, but nothing about 5 stars.

Physios
The obvious statistic for these staff is Physiotherapy. You have 8, release the following:
Garry Armer (12)
Tony Gill (14)
Richard Merron (15)
Mandy Johnson (16)
John Davin (16)

The main issue here is that the game in it's current state appears to limited United to 3 physios after you sack the ones you start with. You may want to keep Davin and Johnson who have 16 each, or you can sack the entire physio staff and hire new ones.

Hiring new staff:
Now that you have cleared the deadwood, you need to replace the staff and upgrade.

Scouts:
The first scout needed is a high level Current Ability scout:
Roberto Bettega, is World Class, unemployed, and has 20 for both stats. He is perfect. He will cost though, 11k a week, but his stats are worth it.

2nd choice is Uwe Scherr, from Schalke, who will cost 130k transfer, but only 1.4k a week. He only has 14 for Potential though.

The next lot are high level Potential Ability scouts:
Arnold Catalano - AS Monaco - 180k Transfer - 20 Potential.
Nicky Hammond - Reading - 50k - 20 Potential, 18 Ability.
Hans-Martin Kleitsch Stuttgart - 275k - 20 Potential, 18 Ability.
Micheal Schroder - HSV - 60k - 19 Potential.

Just keep signing scouts with high potential ability spotting, until you hit the limit of about 12.

Physios:
Again, you need Physio 20 skills, other skills include Motivating, Determination, Discipline. However, there is a problem in that you may not be allowed to sign any more than 3, meaning you may have to fire anyone not as good as these staff to actually bring them to the club:
Alex Nieper - Chelsea - 250k - 20 Physio
Jose Luiz Runco - Flamengo - 110k - 20 Physio
Silvano Cotti - Unemployed - 20 Physio.
Gary Lewin - Unemployed - 20 Physio.
Odir de Souza - Unemployed - 19 Physio.
Rodrigo Lasmar - Atletico Miniero - 19 Physio

Reserve Team Manager:
For this position, you require a coach with Tactical Knowledge, good Judging Player Ability as the main attributes. Having good Motivating and Man Management is a plus, but all 4 in a single coach would be rare. The only real candidate at the start of the game I belive is:
Joao Alves - Benfica - 210k - Tac Know 18, Judge Ability 19, Man Man 15.

Youth Team Manager:
This position is similar, but requires Working With Youngsters and Judging Potential Ability as much or more than you would want tactical knowledge as well, some candidates include:
Massimo Neri - Unemployed
Torbjorn Nilsson - Unemployed
David Court - Arsenal - 210k

Coaches
These should be left to after you have arranged the team's coaching with the newly promoted to full coaching staff (from the youth coaches). Once you have done this, you should have almost, if not all, the areas covered by at least 6 star coaches. Move to fill any gaps, and to upgrade to 6 or 7 star coaches.

The main areas you will need to fill are:
Tactics - There are no staff (who appear in the England Demo Start) with 20 for tactics. United have no-one above 14, best option would be:
Luc Rabat - Unemployed - Tactical 19, Youngsters 20.

Defending - For a team who concede so few goals during a season, the fact their highest defensive coach is rated at 5 stars, and is a youth team coach only is a strange issue, 2 main options are:
Rene Eijkelkamp - Schalke - 375k - 20 Defending
Ludek Miklosko - West Ham - 525k - 20 Defending
Peter Drake - West Ham - 300k - 19 Defending, 18 Youngsters

You should end up with a staff which is comprised of:
Coaching - Majority of 6 stars in every area, for both the first and youth teams, with a GK rating of 7, with 1-2 coaches in each area with a "light" workload.

Physio - Between 3 to 5 good Physios, with most of them ranging in the 18+ category.

Scouts - approximately 12 scouts, with at least 5 being 19 or 20 for Potential Ability, with the rest comprised of 17 for Potential Ability, with a few with 20 for Current Ability.

Reserve Manager, and a Youth Team Manager.

From there, you need to setup your training, your scouting and what you will leave up to your Youth and Reserve managers.

Hope you Enjoy playing as Man Utd. And Good Luck!

Installing or Adding Graphics: Skins, Faces, Logos (PC & Mac)

Updated for FM 09 - Football Manager 2009 - How to Installing or Adding Graphics: Skins, Faces, Logos (PC & Mac) guide. Will add info on new items such as pitch adverts in due course. So you've downloaded something you want to include in your FM game but you're not sure what to do next. You've come to the right place. This does NOT cover creating your own graphics, just installation of those you can download from the many FM fan sites. Follow this step by step guide (follow ALL 3 steps unless told to skip!!):

1. Extract your download

Your download is likely to be in one of 4 formats:
.zip
.rar
.7z
.fmf

If you file is .fmf format then skip to section 2 but the first three are all compressed formats that you'll need to extract first. You're going to need some software installed to be able to do that (choose which one depending on your Operating System):

Windows XP/2000/Vista: 7-Zip (Choose the most recent .exe. At time of writing it's this)
MacOS X: The Unarchiver

7-Zip is installed using the .exe you download. To install The Unarchiver simply double click on the .zip file you download from their website then drag the program it extracts (called 'The Unarchiver') into your apps folder.

Once installed, create a new folder somewhere you can keep track of (on your desktop for instance) and place your downloaded graphics zip, rar or 7z in it. Now we extract:

Windows: Right click on your zip, rar or 7z. Choose 7-Zip from the menu, then select 'Extract Here'.
MacOS X: Right click (or ctrl + click) on your zip, rar or 7z. Choose 'open with' then select 'The Unarchiver'.

Your file should extract and most probably create a folder in the same directory, or perhaps a .fmf file.

2. Where to put your file

Depending on what you're wanting to add you need to put your graphics in different locations. After step one you will either have a folder or an .fmf file to add. Now you need to find what is called your 'user data folder'. This will be in different locations depending on your Operating System:

Win Vista: C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
Win 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
Win 98/ME: C:\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\
Mac OS X: /Users/(username)/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/

Those are the default locations (note that if Windows is installed on a drive other than C:\ your user data folder will be on that drive). You can change this folder's location from within game preferences should you wish. Find your user data folder then follow the instructions below for the type of graphics you're adding:

SKINS

These need to be added to a folder within the user data folder called 'skins'. The folder may already be there or it may need to be created - do that if you need to. Simply drag your extracted folder from step 1 or fmf file into the skins folder. The extracted folder will likely be named the same as the skin you're installing. So for example if we were installing a skin called "Super Blue", after step 1 we might have a folder called "\superblue" or a file called "superblue.fmf". We drag that into our 'skins' folder within our user data folder leaving us with:

...\skins\superblue.fmf
or
...\skins\superblue\

(note '...' simply means the location of your user data folder e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\)

If you are adding a folder a good way to check everything is ok is to open the folder once it's in your skins folder. There should be a .xml file in there named the same as the folder (so for us that would be superblue.xml) along with some other folders (panels, graphics and maybe some others). What you don't want is just another folder called 'superblue' then when you open that you see the xml file. You want just one level of folder, for example:

...\skins\superblue\superblue.xml + other folders (panels, graphics...) - CORRECT
...\skins\superblue\superblue\superblue.xml + other folders (panels, graphics...) - WRONG

If yours is wrong, change your folders around so they are correct.

LOGOS

These need to be added to a folder within the user data folder called 'graphics'. The folder may already be there or it may need to be created - do that if you need to. So for example in Windows XP it would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics\
Simply drag your extracted folder from step 1 or fmf file into the graphics folder. Logos need to be within the 'graphics' folder but it does not matter exactly where they are placed. You can organise things into sub-folders to keep your logos neat. For instance you could have a 'logos' sub folder within 'graphics'. Within that you might have sub folders for the different coutries, then within those the different leagues, and so on. Graphics you've downloaded are often already in some sort of order too.

One thing to watch out for when organising are files called config.xml. These are vital and should not be mixed and matched. A set of .png graphics will come with a config.xml that is unique to them in the same folder. Make sure they stay together, in the same folder and that new png files or config.xml files are not added or overwritten into their folder.

If your graphics are .fmf format then you can still create sub folders and organise them how you wish.

FACES

These need to be added to a folder within the user data folder called 'graphics'. The folder may already be there or it may need to be created - do that if you need to. So for example in Windows XP it would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics\

Simply drag your extracted folder from step 1 or fmf file into the graphics folder. Faces need to be within the 'graphics' folder but it does not matter exactly where they are placed. You can organise things into sub-folders to keep your faces neat. For instance you could have a 'faces' sub folder within 'graphics'.

KITS

These need to be added to a folder within the user data folder called 'graphics'. The folder may already be there or it may need to be created - do that if you need to. So for example in Windows XP it would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics\

Simply drag your extracted folder from step 1 or fmf file into the graphics folder. Kits need to be within the 'graphics' folder but it does not matter exactly where they are placed. You can organise things into sub-folders to keep your kits neat. For instance you could have a 'kits' sub folder within 'graphics'.

BALLS

These need to be added to a specific folder within the user data folder 'graphics\pitch\balls\'. The folders may already be there or they may need to be created - do that if you need to. So for example in Windows XP it would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics\pitch\balls\

Look inside the folder you extracted in step one until you find the actual ball graphics. These should be .png files called 'ball_x.png" where x is a number and there should be 21 of them. Drag or copy the 21 files from your extracted folder into the ...\graphics\pitch\balls\ folder you created. You can also add winter balls to your game if your download comes with them. Simply create a new folder within ...\balls\ called 'winter' and drag or copy your 21 winter balls into it.

This will add balls for all skins that do not come with their own balls. If you already use a skin that comes with it's own balls and want to use your new balls with it then you need to add them to the skin itself. Say you wanted to add balls to a skin called 'superblue'. You would add them in the same way as above, just into the skin instead:

ie ...\skins\superblue\graphics\pitch\balls\

(note '...' simply means the location of your user data folder e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\)

Those folders should already exist in the skin your adding the balls to.

POPUPS

These need to be added to a specific folder within the user data folder 'graphics\pitch\popup\'. The folders may already be there or they may need to be created - do that if you need to. So for example in Windows XP it would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics\pitch\popup\

Look inside the folder you extracted in step one until you find the actual popup graphics. These should be .png files called 'body_x.png" and "header_x.png" as well as two .xml files called body.xml and header.xml. There should be 18 png files in total, 9 for body and 9 for header. Drag or copy the 18 png files and the two xml files from your extracted folder into the ...\graphics\pitch\popup\ folder you created.

This will add the popup to all skins that do not come with their own popup. If you already use a skin that comes with it's own popup and want to use your new popup with it then you need to add the files to the skin itself. Say you wanted to add a popup to a skin called 'superblue'. You would add the files in the same way as above, just into the skin instead:

ie ...\skins\superblue\graphics\pitch\popup\

(note '...' simply means the location of your user data folder e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\)

Those folders should already exist in the skin your adding the popup to.

NETS

These need to be added to a specific folder within the user data folder 'graphics\pitch\nets\'. The folders may already be there or they may need to be created - do that if you need to. So for example in Windows XP it would be:

C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics\pitch\nets\

Look inside the folder you extracted in step one until you find 4 folders called bottom, left right and top. Drag or copy the 4 folders from your extracted folder into the ...\graphics\pitch\nets\ folder you created.

This will add the nets to all skins that do not come with their own nets. If you already use a skin that comes with it's own nets and want to use your new nets with it then you need to add the files to the skin itself. Say you wanted to add nets to a skin called 'superblue'. You would add the folders in the same way as above, just into the skin instead:

ie ...\skins\superblue\graphics\pitch\nets\

(note '...' simply means the location of your user data folder e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\)

Those folders should already exist in the skin your adding the nets to.

3. Finishing Up

Now we've installed the graphics we need to get the game to load them up properly, a vital step. Launch Football Manager 2009. When loaded go straight into game preferences from the intro screen. Click on 'Display and Sound' on the tree menu. Make sure that you tick the check box on the page called 'Always Reload Skin on Confirm' and un-tick then box saying 'Use Skin Cache'. Now press confirm on the tree menu. There should be a box that pops up saying 'loading image data for the new skin'. Once this is done your graphics should be working within the game. You may want to quit the game and reload it - just to be sure.

To select a skin you've added choose it from the drop down menu in preferences and press confirm. Other graphics do not need choosing to enable them. You do not need to start a new save game for graphics to work.

Once you're sure your graphics have worked go into preferences again and change the tick boxes back to how they were if you wish (doing so will speed up the game load times).

Hope this guide help you out, this guide take from SI community site..

Fix: This can be resolved by updating the Microsoft Dot.Net framework, please visit the following URL to download:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en

You receive the ‘Error: Application was unable to connect to the internet. Please check your connection.’

Fix:
1) Open IE and go to: https://fm2009.sa01.softanchorinsight.com

2) Here if you are using IE7 it will prompt you – “There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.”

3) Next, Click – “Continue to this website (not recommended)”. However – this is okay, it is safe.

4) Look up top at your IE address bar – you will see “Certificate Error”. Click this box, then click “View Certificates”.

5) Press, “Install Certificate…”

6) Select the “Place all certificates in the following store”.

3D Match Engine – This year’s match engine has seen more testing than ever before having been extensively beta tested in Football Manager™ Live for the past year.

The famous Football Manager™ match engine can now be viewed in full 3D with motion captured animations the players. Sports Interactive has been working on the 3D match engine with the support of SEGA Japan’s football development team who provided the motion capture data and some of the animations.

You can now watch your matches in 3D from multiple camera angles and re-watch any part of the match by fast forwarding and rewinding the action using a new match time bar that flags the key moments in the game.

The old 2d view of the match engine is still there, especially for those people whose computers aren’t powerful enough to take advantage of the 3d views.

TV View – Watch your matches in new full screen TV view and customise your match day screen with widgets to view the information you need as a football manager, be it player performance, match action zones, pitch radar, latest scores and many more.

Assistant Manager Feedback – Pre-match and in-match feedback from your Assistant Manager on how the team is performing and your player’s motivation levels, as well as hints on how your tactics are working and how you could outwit the opposition’s tactics.

Improved Media – SI have worked hard to reflect the greater impact the media has been having in recent years on the world of football, in the in-game dealings with the press. The game now features more news stories, more detail and greater media interaction than ever before, creating an even more realistic simulation of the football world.

Press Conferences – Attend pre-match and post-match press conferences with local and national journalists and build up relationships with them over time, but choose your answers carefully because they could come back to haunt you in the media at a later date.

Transfer System – Completely new and re-written transfer system code, providing an even more realistic simulation of real-life football transfers.

Transfer Rumours – View the latest news on what players are being speculated on, and who’s said to be interested in securing their services.

Preferred Moves – Train your players to learn ‘preferred moves’ to add to their game. For example, train central defenders to not dive into tackles, or wingers to do stepovers before crossing the ball.
